A touch of purple…………….. A touch of black

A touch of purple…………….. A touch of black

A touch of Purple….A touch of Black

Have you ever asked yourself what attacks you to a colour? Me, always and every time it;s a different answer! Now I always liked Purple.

Not any kind of purple….. a dark deep, velvety purple…. and a touch of black….. I love purple and been always attracted to agate and amethyst. Purple Agate is one stone that I use on the regular in my designs. It calm the wearer, it hold on to good energy and creates a wonderful save environment for the one who wears it.

A reminder that I love Lavender, that I love creativity, luxury and royalty a colour that is a great representative for peace, dignity and mystery as well as magic, this is purple to me. It also represents the Crown Chakra ( head Chakra) it shows your connection to the universe and spiritual part in you. It;s your connection to creativity

How does purple make you feel? It makes me feel great. It makes me smile and creative. But how does black make you feel like?Elegant, classic, minimalist  and timeless. This is how it makes me feel.

I also want to you check out the video below. Guo Pei a fantastic Haute Couture designer…. She is amazing. Almost all her designs remind me of Romanian Lace and this last collection was exceptional. The

Isn’t her style amazing? The inspiration of the dark ages architectural design is stunning. The structure is fantastic and is so detailed. We lace makers can easy get inspired and create stunning Romanian Point Lace.

Did a colour ever inspire you? If yes, comment below and let’s talk about!

Shabby Chic Pink Modern Romanian Point Lace Doily

Pink -Modern Romanian Point Lace Doily

And voila it;s finally done – my first Modern Romanian Point Lace style doily. It;s made with gorgeous fine Romanofir thread available in the shop. The finishing cord is a wide cord in traditional Romanian Point Lace style. When I started this designs I had in my mind a specific style, Shabby Chic. If you want to find more about Shabby Chic click here.

Sometimes I google images to give my design an inspiration or direction… I do not use or work in very pale colours, but I love soft pinks and ecru of course. You can find more threads that I use here.

Like I said Shabby Chic and I had this particular image that you see below, that inspired me to create this doily.

I can picture this doily in this room, framed and stylish. I know , I know I might dream tooooo far! LOL! Now if you want details on this doily it;s available here in the Etsy shop.

Let me know how you would dress up this doily, how would you make it work for you!?

In Pink….

In Pink….

In Pink….

It;s Spring Down under and I was in the mood for a little fun in pink…. I am working on a piece that is inspired by traditional Romanian Point Lace, but it has a touch of modern lace into it by the structure, the design and way of creating it.

Check it out! But it’s still work in progress….. I am thinking of framing it…. I am using a wide cord in ecru for the framing, edge and a floral design in the centre. It;s flowers and leaves in a oval composition hold together with simple bars in an abstract design in pink and ecru.

This last week was crazy, so I decided to take some time out and simply enjoy a bit. I tried the new Nespresso, -love it of course! In case you want to know, I had a Nicaragua. If you had one let me know, how you liked it!

Happy Sunday!

Bread…..

Bread…..

Bread

What does Bread mean to you?

To me a lot….. Bread means life, it;s more than food, it;s more than flour, water, (yeast ) mixed together… it;s family, money and memories….

For some people, bread is simply bread… In Romania, bread has a special meaning…. The design is unique, it’s fun and not easy to do. They mostly braid bread, similar to Romanian Point Lace designs….. Check the images below!

I grew up in Cugir a small town in Transylvania and every three days we went to buy bread… not just any bread… Bread from Lae Pecu…. It might not say anything to you, but let me explain! Are you ready?! In the image below is the late Lae Pecu. He was a very good friend of my grandpa and we always went into the backdoor to get our bread. While they were talking about the all time….. I always received a treat similar to a bagel these days but way better! I had no idea how lucky I was! Nicholas Hanegar ( Lae Pecu) not only made the best bread in town, he put Cugir on the culinary map in Romania.

His bread was so famous that people started to come from far to buy his bread. These days the bakery is still going stroner than ever! His grandson took over….. If you want to find out more about this amazing bread….. Read here!

Bread to us is actually so important that bread is actually used as a plate for soups. Check it out below! Funky!

But you probably wonder why I tell you all this about bread, coz you are here to read about Romanian Point Lace or Art! Well I blog about this topic so you can see some braided bread designs and understand how connected bread is to how we make point lace! Now you know!

Personally I am such a bread fan, that I have a bread culture in the fridge that is 3 years old almost! Yes, I made my own Sourdough! What about you?

If you pay attention to the designs, you can see that most pattern are like Romanian Point Lace designs, organic, symmetric and traditional. The one design below is inspired by Constantin Brancusi and the Endless Column.

The bread below is inspired by an ancient culture, Cucuteni… You find more about here!

One of my favourite designs is the bread pattern below, such a traditional floral design, for bread and for RPL!

DADA…..

DADA…..

Inspiration…..DADA

Have you heard of DADA? Well yes, it;s a real WORD and yes you can find it in the Dictionary! DADA is famous in the world of ART in the world of FASHION….. It is a must in a cultural society.

What is DADA!

Dada was an art movement formed during the First World War in Zurich in negative reaction to the horrors and folly of the war. The art, poetry and performance produced by dada artists is often satirical and nonsensical in nature. (Wikipedia)

DADA defines itself and creates itself in the fashion world….. DADA originated in Europe 1916 and never actually stopped if you ask me….From Originator Marchel DuChamp the DADA movement in the fashion industry had a hard time first and was shocking. Vivienne Westwood, was one of the first fashion designers who broke the boundaries and DADA was born or moved into the fashion industry. After that it was easy and more acceptable for designers like Galliano , Maison Martin Margiela or Victor & Rolf to push more and more!

You probably think that these pigiont shoes are just art or insane, well theses days everything is DADA and it will go further and further… because we humans need to break through the boundaries, not only for our self but for future generations….. there is no stop to DADA or creativity…. All is possible!

So enjoy a cup of coffee, and create some DADA.….

By the way when I broke into a traditional world of Romanian Point Lace where everything is beige, ecru or white my colourful pieces and not traditional concept and approach to this antique lace making technique, was a shocking fabulous adventure!

Most people did not understand and did not like the idea that something so old and perfect…. is not colourful, not for the table and more….. meaning a wearable piece, a concept to take to another level.

Do you like DADA?
